NEW OSNAGROUP SECOND LIFE
Second meeting: Sunday 6th. March
Dear Osnagroupies,
We will have our second fortnightly meeting tomorrow, Sunday 6th. March.
I have altered the time slightly to enable me to keep another appointment and to make the time work for Kalyan.
It was not possible to arrange for someone to give us some instruction in scripting this week , but I have gathered some information for free or cheap online courses/inworld which I will share with you tomorrow. .
At a later date Carol will also share her "sound" scripting - how to make a prim bearing a picture speak the name of what is on it.
Tomorrow, Kalyan hopes to share with us some basic building skills.
And remember - our motto is: "We share our skills with each other".
If you have found something, can do something in SL that we haven't got, don't know about, cannot do - please share!
Osna Dennis

Greetings,
One group met last Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 16:00 GMT. (Apologies to anyone who hates references to GMT. We used it for EVO for many weeks and it has become a habit).
Kalyan, particularly, managed to help us start organising a program of learning to script.
What concerns me, though, is the interested people for whom Sunday at this time is not a possibility. What also worries me is if I can really manage to look after two groups. Are there any volunteers for helping to run a second group?
First though - we need to find another viable time. << Please go to Doodle and mark your choices.

Hi Dennis & distant friends, writing to you from downunder, where many lives have just been affected by a devastating earthquake (I'm 6 hours north of Christchurch in NZ, so all is well here where I am, but not so in Christchurch).
I'd love to volunteer to help the second group's meetings, as long as you don't mind GMT+13! I seem to be missing out on most of the meetings, as I'm downunder. So, one way to avoid missing out on the inworld sessions could be by running them ;-)
Not sure if this is the area to post my expression of interest, please correct me if I'm wrong. But I'll stand by if no one else can volunteer. Let me know.

FIRST MEETING SUNDAY 20 February !!!!!!!!
Greetings,
Thank you so much for expressing interest in Osnagroup. At the time of writing, after just 5 days, about 17 people have signed into the Wiki. A quick inspection shows that Sundays, from 15:00 hours (GMT) are the most favourite day and time.
I would like to suggest that we have our first get-together on this coming Sunday, February 20, 2011
15:00 GMT (I shall be online for at least 2 hours for those that can only come later)
I suggest we talk about how we want the group to function and perhaps one of us/some of us will have something to share with others.
I see myself as the initiator of this group, but you, we will decide how it is to operate.
Until Sunday.
Osna Dennis
FIRST MEETING
I would personally like this to be a very open group - informal - no officers, constitutions, minutes etc. just a group where people can meet, chat, ask for suggestions, share knowledge and skills.
I would like it to be a meeting place where pedagogical SL matters as well as more technical issues can be talked about, shared etc.
How often, rarely we meet is for us collectively to decide.
When we meet will also be our joint decision.
I would like to offer my "Upstairs" platform as our regular meeting place since my reason for paying for the rent for such a place is precisely the wish to share it in the way I am outlining here.
i would like to call the first meeting next week. Please indicate your availability in this first table and then complete the second. Thanks for signing up! Times below are GMT
||| Gabriela has kindly set up a Doodle link to help us to decide when to have a meeting this week. I imagine we shall get an automatic request, but I am checking with Daniela. THANKS for doing this.|||s
Can I suggest we talk a little about this on Wednesday at the SLExperiments meeting - I feel there is a degree of crossover and it would be a good idea to discuss whether we need a new group or whether it might not be more effective and sustainable to transform an existing one
Can I also suggest running the same meeting on two different time/dates - I think it is quite important when working with an international group spread across time zones. Having a single time and date means that you inevitably exclude some people - offering a choice means that more people will be able to be involved. For example we could run the same meeting/workshop on a weekend afternoon and also on a weekday evening. Choice is always a good thing; it wouldn't mean a huge amount of extra work for a facilitator but would make a difference to people who would otherwise be unable to participate.
This is an EXCELLENT idea.(Why didn't I think of it?). I shall study the Doodle again and then make a suggestion for a second meeting. By the way, I have also created a Yahoogroups list which will make communicating easier than this rather clumsy method. But it will take time to feed all names into it. Osna
Just open the yahoogroup, paste the link here and we'll register. Gabriela

First let me say that this is very generous of you Dennis and an excellent opportunity for us to all keep in touch. Do we have an actual date and time yet for the first meeting? Again, thanks to all the EVO moderators for their time and sterling contribution to continuing teacher ed. Blessings

This is a great idea to reactivate the group, Dennis. I would love to join you all, only I will be available irregularly due to some family stuff. That is why I did not sign Gabriela's doodle. I am looking forward to the first meeting though, too. Best to All :-)

I'd love to keep learning and working with this wonderful team. Denis, thanks for this opportunity to meet again. I guess the first meeting will be in two weeks. It would be great to schedule two choices for each meeting so we can all have the chance to participate actively. Cheers!
